In order for Mr Que to earn a higher award, he was advised by Mr Koh to confine his collection to within the Pre-Universal Postal Union period. Mario followed the advice and formed his collection Philippines 1790’s-1877 (Pre-UPU Era). It was shown for the first time at INDIA’89, and was awarded a large gold. The collection became a byword in international stamp exhibitions in no time. It won Mr Que six more FIP large gold medals at Sofia (1898); Paris (1989); London (1990); New Zealand 1990, Auckland (1990); Poznan (1993); and Bangkok (1993). A large gold was not the only thing Mario won at Auckland in 1990. He also received a most coveted award by winning the Grand Prix International. Later in 1995, the same collection added prestige to has name, and his country, when he won the Grand Prix d’Honneur in Singapore.

本邮集展示了万国邮政联盟成立之前的菲律宾邮政史及该时期所发行的几套邮票。其中的亮点是含有一个完整的邮票史前的邮戳集，内有3件孤品,如伊沙贝拉二世女王像无齿孔邮票(1854-1864)的已知存世最大方联。 同时, 该邮集还展示了大量重要的西属安的列斯群岛、东印度公司、香港及海峡殖民地邮票在菲律宾使用的实寄封。
